Photocopy mentioning the family of Paul Stephen Penrose, whose Mother died in 1875 as a result of childbirth and two years later his Father also passed away. At fourteen, he was one of four children. He was able to stay with one of the trustees and learn farming. At twenty one years, he took over the farm and the care and responsibilities of his three sisters. Made from a large, heavy, irregular shaped piece of stone. One fascia has been cut lengthwise at an oblique angle & polished. On this face are 2 bronze medallions. One shows 2 hands and the other, 'Braille Book of the Year' is written in Braille. This award was presented for the first time at a presentation dinner on the 3rd May 1974 to Mr. Keith Dunstan.
