Named the Percy Baxter Arthritis Centre, the new building is situated at 263-265 Kooyong Rd, Elsternwick. In this photo, Governor McGarvie, Mrs Lesley McGarvie, and the AFV's founder and President, Rheumatologist Dr Leslie Koadlow, pose for a photo beside a bronze plaque commemorating the official opening of the new building. On the 28th & 29th of July, 1978, a second "Living with Arthritis - Aids to Daily Living" exhibition was held at the Peter Fraser Memorial Hall in Barkly St, Footscray. The exhibition, (the first of which had been held at Brighton's St Andrew's Parish Hall in May), was an educational and fundraising event in support of the Rheumatism and Arthritis Association of Victoria (RAAV). In this photo, Mr David Butler, physiotherapist at Western and General Hospital, addresses the audience at the exhibition. Seated behind him is Dr Leslie Koadlow (partially obscured).
