Narre Warren North had a population of 200 in 1933. Just a month after World War 2 began in September 1939, a meeting was held in the Narre Warren Scout Hall to discuss the formation of a branch of the Red Cross Society. The early minutes reflect the difficulties of the war years when many of the women may have had husbands, sons and daughters in the services. Despite rationing and shortages of materials these ladies always seemed to have most of what they needed to make goods to sell at stalls, provide suppers at concerts and social afternoons and hold an annual fair. In their spare time they knitted socks and helmets and sewed pyjamas that were sent to those serving overseas. The minutes highlight the work of our local women and give us an insight into the often unrecorded contributions women made within their communities in a time when local histories were dominated by male achievements.Six exercise books bound with hard cover binding. Narre Warren East School operated from 1912 to 1987. The school building on Wellington Rd, Narre Warren East now functions as a childcare centre.

During the 1999 National Arthritis Week (NAW), the Amcal Chemist in Narre Warren South hosted an Arthritis Foundation of Victoria (AFV) poster display. The display featured various AFV posters and brochures, including one titled 'Invest in your Future', featuring journalist and editor, Ita Buttrose. The inside and facing page bear a photo and tribute to Mrs M Randle. Mrs Randle is pictured planting the Red Cross Tree on 2 July 1959. Reference is made to purchasing a Rowan Tree for the centenary memorial in the park, and a plaque for the Red Cross Tree was to be arranged. Alice Randle was president of the branch from its inception in 1939 until her death in January 1964. A minutes' silence was held in remembrance of Mrs Randle at the February 1964 meeting. It was at this meeting that members decided to purchase the large minute book and include a tribute and photo in the opening pages. This minute book is the last one. The Branch celebrated their 80th Birthday in October 2019. Throughout those years the unit raised money for the Red Cross by making flannelette pyjamas, knitting, holding dances and euchre nights and sent clothing and food parcels to England. In 1959 they raised 80 pounds with a bazaar. They collected medical equipment to loan to those who needed it and held craft displays, fashion parades and film nights.
