The Back In Your Own Backyard exhibition was a series of pieces from several groups and individuals who live and work in the Western Suburbs. When Dr. Hector Rath Maclean died in August 1934 he was Williamstown's oldest and most honored medical practitioner. He died at his home in Parker Street Williamstown. He was 72 years old, and was born in Cecil Street Williamstown, on February 25, 1862. He studied medicine at Melbourne University and Edinburgh University. At the outbreak of the war, he volunteered for service with the 1st Australian General Hospital, and saw service at Egypt, from where he volunteered for service at Gallipoli as a member of the 5th and 7th Light Horse. Dr. Maclean was a founder of the local Williamstown hospital, to which he was senior physician and surgeon. He was also the port health officer and health officer to the city council. This brass plaque is from his surgery Newport. A memorial to Dr Maclean is sited in front of the Senior Citizens building in Ferguson Street Williamstown.Rectangular brass nameplate inscribed Dr H.R.
