Originally labelled "Beauville Estate, Established 1936, Still Thriving 65 years on, 10th March 2001", the Beauville Estate Album contains colour photographs of houses in the Estate. They were taken around the time of the Beauville Estate’s 65th Heritage Celebration held on 10/03/2001 and donated to the Caulfield Historical Society shortly afterwards. Photographer unknown. City of Glen Eira’s Heritage Management Plan Vol 2 p79 (this is p84 of the pdf version) – HO12 Beauville Estate and environs, Murrumbeena: The Beauville Historic Area is important at the State level as the first large housing estate undertaken by the AV Jennings Construction Co, later Jennings Group Limited, Victoria’s largest home builder. It is important also as a very early estate development incorporating a range of features other than houses and including made roads, shops and recreation facilities. In this respect it was the forerunner of the comprehensively planned housing estate of the post war era. Date is approximate. House was built in 1910 and has been demolished. The woman on the verandah is probably Mrs P Falconer, Ron Falconer's mother. Her full name was Emily Victoria Aird (1884-1957), daughter of James Bromich Aird and Sarah Ann (nee Edwards). She married Patrick Henry Falconer on 11 December 1907 in Blackburn. The Falconer family lived in Albert Crescent for many years. Listed in electoral rolls in 1916 through to the 1950s. By 1963 the family were at 33 Weybridge Street, Surrey Hills. Emily and Patrick Henry Falconer had 4 children: Ronald Keith (b1908); Hilda Irene (b 1910); Harold Leslie (b 1913) and Hilah (b 1915). Known as ‘You Yangs’, 15 Russell Street was built in 1891. 1898–1900: Home of Mr and Mrs John Reaburn, later of 'Fairbank', Union Road. John Reaburn (1873-1963); Jane (Jeannie) Nelson Harkins (1875-1959) 1922–1954: Theodore Hendy and family. Mr Hendy spent some time in South Africa gaining architectural experience. One of his houses, in Barton Street, near the Surrey College has some features which may well relate to South African architecture. He also extended and updated the Surrey Hills Primary School buildings. He was impressed by Baden Powell whom he met in Sth Africa and when he heard about the scouting movement being launched in 1907, he took up the idea and started Surrey Hills Scouts in 1909. The 1914–15 Star was authorised in 1918 and was awarded for service in specified theatres of war between 5 August 1914 and 31 December 1915. A recipient of the 1914 Star could not also be awarded the 1914–15 Star. The medal is accompanied by its original box. The Holgate medals were the first war medals held by BCC archives. They have historical and social significance for the College.The 1914-15 Star is a four pointed star of bright bronze, ensigned with a crown. The obverse has crossed gladius, overlaid with an oak wreath that is ensigned with the cypher of King George V. A scroll bearing the legend 1914-15 is centrally placed across the crossed blades. The 1914-15 Star ribbon has the red white and blue colours of the Empire, in shaded and watered stripes. The medal is accompanied by its original box.Engraved on a scroll in the centre of the medal front: '1914-15' The oak wreath is ensigned with the cypher of King George V. Bus timetable for Davis Urban Services Ballarat, route 15 on light green duplicating paper. Route 15 - Sturt St. West to and from City. Not dated, but probably c1975, as Davis have moved to their "then" new depot in Norman St. Ballarat. Timetable gives times for departure to and the terminals, notes on intermediate times, notes on variations to standard arrangements and location of terminals. On Sunday, the bus served the Botanical Gardens area and route 15A, which served Lake Wendouree by Gardens Kiosk. Has a Davis bus logo - poppet head and bus. Was designed to be folded in the centre.
