Machine - McKesson Nargraf Machine, McKesson Appliance Co, c. 1930
The McKesson Nargraf machine is affixed to a four-legged metal stand with castors. The head of the machine has two reduced pressure gauges on top: one each for oxygen and nitrous oxide. Below each pressure gauge is a cylindrical drum, where the green-painted faces are directed outwards. There is a pressure control valve with a dial on top of the machine between the two pressure gauges, and a large mixing valve in the centre of the machine head that regulates the proportions of oxygen and nitrous oxide. In front of the mixing valve is a glass cylinder with fabric threads hanging down from the top surface inside.anaesthesia, oxygen, nitrous oxide -

The McKesson Nargraf anaesthetic record was introduced in 1930, created by Dr Elmer I. McKesson.Black and white photograph of a drawing of the head of a McKesson Nargraf anaesthetic record, Model H. The view is from the top looking down onto the machine. There are two pressure gauges on either side of the round central component, with controls for oxygen, nitrous oxide, ethylene and carbon dioxide. This object dates back to 1925 and was sectioned by Dr Geoffrey Kaye in 1938. Flowmeters were attached to an anaesthetic machine to measure the flow rate of gas or liquid.Metal cylinder with glass inner chamber and gauge inside. This device was designed by W E Collison for self administration of oxygen therapy, particularly in the home. By his own description "It presents none of the tiresome and irksome features associated with medical apparatus and is readily understood by patients." Registration number: 772839 and 785517 Patent number: 415437Metal tubing designed to attach to an oxygen cylinder which leads to a number of gauges and continues on to a metal head which holds two glass bulbs. Glass bulb on left is amber in colour and the glass bulb on the right is clear.Both bulbs have residue on the inside.
