This small park in Sunbury is bounded by Ligar, Miller, Pasley and Neill Streets on the west side of the railway line. There is limited playground equipment in the ground and a plaque acknowledging the work done by nearby resident Roger Free who took on the task as a volunteer caretaker of the park. The area was developed as a park because there is a natural underground spring running diagonally across the land from Ligar Street to Miller Street. This is one of many parks and recreational areas that have been established in Sunbury. The land surrounding Happy Hollow farm at Plenty was purchased by Francis Wickham in 1840. The land was later subdivided and held by various owners including Charles Partington (1875) and John McLaughlin who leased the property in 1892 to Robert Emmett Whatmough who erected the first dwelling on the property. The land was later owned by Mrs Betty Bell and was purchased by Parks Victoria in 1994 to form part of the Plenty Gorge Parklands. The students from Bulla Primary School were taken on a school excursion to nearby Woodlands Park where they took part in a tree planting activity. They were planting trees that were native to the area in a bid to replenish the parkland with natural vegetation.The excursion aimed to give the students an awareness of the native vegetation in the area and the importance of conserving natural growth areas. Sidney Clifton was a mechanical engineer and a lecturer at Melbourne University. He built the house, which is still in the family. He was a foundation member and treasurer of Darebin Parklands Association. He designed Clifton Bridge in Darebin Parklands and built the wooden formwork for it in his living room in this house. It was built with volunteers and funded by a grant from Heidelberg and Northcote Councils. He was a foundation member and treasurer of Darebin Parklands Association.B&W photograph.
