Book - Wall bracket, Royal Horticultural Society of Victoria, Natural Grasses, 1888
Joseph Bosisto, MP, had been presented with an extensive collection of seeds by the English firm of Sutton Bros In 1888. He, in turn, presented the collection to the Royal Horticultural Society of Victoria (RHSV) for permanent display. They remained on display in the Pavillion until its demolition in 1951.) Wooden wall-bracket with paper prints of natural grasses pasted on to 12 tin hinged panels. Front panel has 2 Royal Warrants awarded to Sutton & Sons - Seed Merchants, London, 1 dated 1871, the other 1884. Handmade museum standard box with internal support.Inscription on wooden cover which had become detached and now appears to be missing is, 'Natural Grasses, used in Mr Martin Sutton's Prescriptions for Permanent & Temporary Pastures.'joseph bosisto, sutton's bos, rhsv, seed, suttons & sons seed merchants
