Previously I was under the impression, it was a bit of a general store, but perhaps that was not the case. Jack and Marion Newman ran the store from the mid sixties till around 1970 as I remember, but Robert (Rob) their son lives in Coldstream and he may recall the exact time his parents operated the store. The photos taken appear to be about "1970" vintage and were taken perhaps when they left. In regard to the other photo that I was trying to locate and find out about the function. The photo itself is entitled "Farewell to Mr and Mrs Bridger" and as you can see there were many people in attendance. In regard to the date of the photo I suspected it was taken circa 1916-1918 as my great great grandfather John Thomas Allen Snr (1841-1918) is in the photo and my paternal grandmother Rose Allen (1906-1989) is also in the photo and appears to be about 8-10 years old. He appears to have had at least 3 children Kevin Francis Smith born 17/12/1936 (died1985), Neville Albert Smith (died 2007) and at least one daughter Jeanette “Old Home at Wonga Park” Photo is of the rear of the house with 3 children in front of the care. ...Horace (Horrie) Albert Evington Smith born 14/11/1913 at Lilydale, married Marjorie Boyle (divorced 11/2/1937) nee Kilpatrick at 716 Rathdowne Street North Carlton. Horrie was registered as proprietor of the larger part of Crown Allotment 9J at the corner of Jumping Creek and Homestead Roads Wonga Park from 1958 to 1969 but appears to have occupied the property from possibly 1939 or earlier and at least 1948.
