This portable communion set was used by Hilda Fisher (nee Graham). Deaconess Hilda Fisher was Warden of the Methodist Deaconess Order of Victoria and Tasmania. She was also Chaplain of Fairfield Sanitorium and was later appointed to Fairlea Prison for Women.Dimpled black leather covered timber box with red velvet lining. The box contains two silver screw top bottles, three glass communion glasses, a silver communion cup, a small silver paten and wafer box. The box has a carry handle on the top of the lid and two securing latches on the side. Brown leather case with blue velvet lining containing a screw top glass bottle, twelve communion glasses, two corks with silver crosses on the top and a slot for two pocket size books, and a large linen communion cloth. The case has two keys and a metal lock and handle on its front together with gold lettering. There is also a brown leather label with gold lettering inside the lid. There are two copies of "Order of administration of the Lord's supper and other services". Both books bear the stamp: ""Ontario Street Methodist Church West Caulfield"On front: "CHAPLAIN A.W.R. The Rev A W Pederick was a chaplain who served in the New Guinea Campaign during WWII. His service included the Kokoda Trail. Brown leather carry case with a brown metal base, a carry handle and two lockable latches on the font. The box has a blue velvet lining. The box holds a paten, diameter 12.0 cm, and a wafer tin which are held in pouches in the lid. Two bottles with cork and silver lids are in fitted compartments inside the box which also contains a small white embroidered cloth. There is embossed gold lettering on the front of the box.
