Pedal Organ. Possibly belonged to Oscar Flight (Snr). Oscar Flight was a well known and Highly respected Musician in Bendigo. Lived at 44 Carpenter St, Quarry Hill. The father of The Engineer/Surveyor Lt Oscar Thomas Flight. Pedal Organ. This is a “Two Pedal” organ with a 50 Ivory Key, keyboard. The woodwork is relatively good condition. Across the front of the organ and just above the Keyboard are the words “Aucher Freres - Paris'' Lt Oscar Thomas Flight, No 2 Squadron AFC Lt Flight was a 20 year old university student from Bendigo, Victoria when he enlisted in the AIF and embarked for overseas as a Sapper (service number 3018) with the 5th Field Company Engineers (FCE) from Melbourne on 24 November 1915 aboard HMAT Ceramic. After serving in France with the 5th FCE, he transferred to the AFC on 28 August 1917 and graduated as a pilot on 22 January 1918. After being posted to France on 27 February 1918, he was captured on 28 March 1918 and held as a POW in Germany until repatriated to England on 13 December 1918. Lt Flight arrived back in Australia on 7 April 1919. Oscar Flight served as a lieutenant in the Second AIF.person, individual, oscar flight

Maxwell Barry Cowden VX19297 enlisted in the 2/nd AIF on 30.5.1940 age 18 years (put his age up to 21) in 2/2 Pioneer Battalion AIF, embarked for the Middle East 8.4.1941, promoted L/Cpl 25.6.1941, promoted Cpl 29.10.1941, took part in the Syrian Campaign. On 31.1.1942 the unit embarked for Australian but were diverted to Java to defend it, disembarked 18.2.1942. Java surrendered and they were taken POW, reported MIA on 30.4.1942 then after as POW. As a POW he worked on the Burma Railway. In December 1944 they were on the Hell Ship AWA Maru and sailed for Japan to work in the Coal Mines arriving mid Jan 1945. He was repatriated back to Australia on the HMS Formidable, discharged on 28.11.1945 with the rank of Cpl. Pilot Officer Robert Charles CARVER, 24, and Flying Officer Michael Patrick John HERBERT, 24, were both career air force officers in No. 2 Squadron, RAAF. On 3 November 1970 their Canberra bomber disappeared from a radar screen while returning from a night bombing mission in the northern I Corps Tactical Zone of South Vietnam. An extensive aerial search of the area failed to find any trace of the aircraft or crew and was called off after three days. In April 2009 the wreckage of the Canberra bomber was located in thick jungle in Quang Nam Province near the Laotian border. Human remains discovered near the site were identified in July 2009 as those of Carver and Herbert and were repatriated to Australia on 31 August 2009 for burial in separate military funerals.Stainless steel open-ended bracelet engraved with missing serviceman's full name and date missing.
