The prayer book was presented to Canon Anthony by the people of Holy Trinity Church in Keck Street, Bendigo. This church began in 1904 as an outreach mission of St Paul's in Bendigo. The original church was on the corner of Hallam and Somerville Streets but moved to its present site in 1972. The church is still open and operational.

This prayer book was first published in 1978 by the Anglican Information Office on behalf of the Standing Committee of the General Synod of the Church of England in Australia.
It was intended to be used together with The Book of Common Prayer. The book was not intended to replacement The Book of Common Prayer but to act as a resource and adjunct in more modern times. The prayer book can also be found online.
