He served from 24 Apr 71 to 20 Oct 72 in the Australian Regular Army Supplement (NS). The Australian Regular Army Supplement (ARAS) was a component of the Australian Army specifically designed to incorporate conscripts into the regular force for full-time duty at home in Australia. National Servicemen in the ARAS received the same pay and conditions as regular soldiers, including three weeks' annual leave. Addressed to Mr N E Swainston, 37 Leamington St, Reservoir, Victoria and date stamped 18 Feb 1971.
