This is the second edition of the Allansford Recreation Reserve Community Newsletter produced in 2014. The memorial service held at the Bentleigh Recreation Reserve on Sunday, December 8, 1918. It was largely attended. The president of the Sire, Cr. D. White, was introduced to those present, by Cr T Marriott. Mr O. R. Following World War One, the present Memorial Gates at the front of the Lara Recreation Reserve (opposite the service station), were erected and the names of 104 men and woman who enlisted from Lara Districts were added. Twenty four paid the supreme sacrifice. They were erected at a cost of £380 by Barklamb Brothers of Caulfield. His Excellency The Governor Lord Somers officially opened the gates on 22 December 1929.
