The cap was found in 2017 during a clear up. It May have been donated or possibly left behind by a cadet who stayed at the Mission in the 20th C. The Mission was host to both Officers and Cadets during much of the 20th C.An example of trainee cadet clothing produced in the 20th C (ID No. 8405.66.075.6069).Stiffened size 17 white nylon-covered cap with air-vents and leather and black felt headband, with navy-blue woollen chin strap; lined with fabric and calico and stitched and printed nylon label.Combination of printing and hand-written; see image attached. Eleanor Hinde (1842-1902) was born in Lancashire England. In 1858, Eleanor married Richard Reynold in the Forest Street Wesleyan Methodist Church in Sandhurst. They both gave their address as Sailors Gully Goldfields. They had seven children together. Richard was a skilled tradesman and after he died in 1872 from lung disease, Eleanor married Arculus Opie. Eleanor owned a property on the corner of Gladstone and Stanley Streets which later became an electrical substation. She sold poultry and eggs and preserves. The four folders contain family history documents and photos of the descendants of Eleanor Hinde. Iris Ellen Greenaway (1922-2009) is the Great Granddaughter of Richard Reynolds and Eleanor Hinde. The original aircraft depicted was assigned to the US 5th Air Force, 49th Fighter Group, 9th fighter Squadron and flown by Lt. Reynold from May 1942 until early August 1942. The aircraft was nicknamed "Stardust". On 8th August 1942 this P40 was assigned to the Royal Australian Air Force as Kittyhawk A29-136 and assigned the code letter "N", retaining the "Stardust" nickname.
