This is the black version designed for wear on the Army OCP (Operational Camouflage Pattern) or MultiCam uniform. Soldiers who have served in a combat zone with the unit wear this patch on their right shoulder. The U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1970, primarily conducting search-and-destroy missions. Based in Di An and Lai Khe, they fought in the Iron Triangle, secured Tan Son Nhut Air Base during the 1968 Tet Offensive, and engaged in major operations.
