Gladys Maissie "Mace" Babb (b28/10/1889 d22/1/1982) married George Napier Myers (b29/10/1879 d23/9/1948) in 1912 in Victoria. Mace was the daughter of James Babb, a pioneer of Braybrook who worked as a caretaker and road contractor. This document is a summary of transcript of an interview between Mrs Mace Myers, aged 87 years old, of her memory of early Braybrook, Braybrook Junction and Sunshine in the early 19th century. Robert Pullar Cameron was a Shire Councillor for many years. He married Penuel Hossack and had a family of James, Flora, Penuel and Alex. William Cumming was a prominent Orbost identity. He was born in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, in 1866 the son of William Cumming and Mary Ann Montgomery. He came to Australia, aged 28, and to Orbost in 1890. He farmed at Bete Bolong and during WW1 ran a butcher's shop on his farm. He was a shire councillor and served as a South Riding representative for 38 years. He was a keen Newmerella football supporter, a member of the Orbost Bowling Club as well as a director of the Orbost Butter Factory. Cumming was married to Ellen Louise Mundy and had four children ( Harold, Mary, William and Gordon).This item is an example of a hand-written account for a local early 20th century business in Orbost. The World War One Memorial Stained glass windows in the Barkly Street Uniting Church resulted from a request made in 1919 by the Barkly Street Young Men's Club to be given permission to raise money to pay for the project. The window was designed by Fisher Co. Pty Ltd, and was unveiled by a former army chaplain - either Rev. J.A. Gaunt or Rev. Bladen on the 14th March 1920. The total cost of the windows was 171 pounds 10 shillings. Bendigo Advertiser ''The way we were'' from 2000. Success: Robert Cousen had a thriving business in View street, Bendigo in the early 1900's.
