This ticket would have been produced at the office for the purpose of controlling the people entitled to a meal and the number of people requiring one.Historical: This ticket indicates that a meal pass was required during the construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. This would have controlled the number of people entitled to a meal and enabled staff to both prepare the correct number of meals and to use the number of meals when finalising the budget.This orange ticket has been laminated. The S.E.C.V.'s Home Service Section prepared this book to encourage women to cook with electricity especially with the later appliances. Part of their advertising suggested that they go to their electricity showroom for advice on purchasing a new appliance. The S.E.C. had showrooms in regional Victoria including one at Mt Beauty.The SECV constructed the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme employing many workers. They built the townships of Bogong and Mt Beauty and assisted with the infrastructure required to support the influx of population. In the Mt Beauty shopping centre, one of the shops was the S.E.C. Showroom, which sold electrical appliances and gave advice on their use and the latest models available. This book is a promotion to encourage women to cook using the latest electrical appliances.The cover is white, black and pinkish book showing a sketch of the top of a stove in the top half and below, the title with a cartoon chef. Miss Olive Codling was a Foundation Member and a Life Member of the Wodonga Historical Society. Many of her prize-winning photos are held in the Society Collection. She also held a range of roles and committee positions in a wide range of Wodonga community organisations. These included the Horticultural Society, the Wodonga Arts Council, the Wodonga Camera Club and the Wodonga Lapidary Club. Elaine Mann was married to David Mann, a successful Wodonga businessman and community leader who passed away in Wodonga in June 2012. David was a member of the Mann family who began their business in Wodonga in 1920. In 1960, Bob Hall and four Albury bakers, Eric Wynne and Allan, Neville and Keith Thiel, joined Bunge’s Albury Flour Mills in forming a new company, Southern Border Bakeries. He became a director and general manager of the company. He also served 9 years in local government. Bob was also a member of the Bread Manufacturers Council of N.S.W., the Australian and New Zealand Bread Manufacturers Association, and an employers representative on the N.S.W. It envisaged a building able to accommodate about 100 guests. The successful developer would be granted a lease for 45 years at a rent of £300 per annum. His project was designed as a year-round resort hotel. As well as serving as a winter sports hotel, the plan featured indoor facilities including a heated swimming pool, squash courts, bowling alley and sauna bath. Stables, a tennis court and boats would also attract year-round tourism. The budgeted cost was £130,000 plus bowling alley equipment.
