On 28 March 1981 the Ballarat College of Advanced Education 1870 Founders hall was opened. The hall was erected from the proceeds of the Centenary Appeal, held in 1975. It cost approximately $800,000. The hall commemorates the initiative of the founders of the original Ballarat School of Mines and its "descendants", including Ballarat College of Advanced Education, as well as formal technical education in Australia. The hall plans were to erect a building to accommodate 670 persons in a theatre type seating arrangement and to be used for multi-purpose use by community groups as well as by the College. Construction of the hall commenced in 1978. It was opened approximately 110 years after the Ballarat School of Mines (26 October 1870) and 10 years after the opening of the Mt Helen Campus (31 October 1870)..1) Morgan B. The 150th celebrations of Eltham Primary School included the launch of this book to commemorate the event, titled "We Did Open a School in Little Eltham". The title is taken from a line in a letter from first head teacher David Clark who opened his first private school in a bark hut. This publication of some 262 pages far exceeds the standard of most school commemorative histories, both in content and presentation. The three joint writers are all parents of students at the school. Ian Anderson, Barry Carozzi and Tarja Fellowes have spent many months researching and writing. In the book they acknowledge the contribution of EDHS President Harry Gilham and of Peter Cuffley, great grandson of Eltham pioneer Thomas Sweeney, Many of the photographs were from the collection of EDHS. Cover includes the 3rd and 4th Class, with assistant teacher Catherine Clarke, c.1886Paperback; 1vISBN 0975179632 [written on flyleaf] Donated to the 2006 Committee by & from the School Councileltham state school, eltham, eltham primary school, social customs, schools, catherine clark

Lisa Lodge Girls' Hostel, Ballarat, was established in 1970 and was run by a committee of women. All the women were Honorary Probation Officers. It provided residential care for eight adolescent girls at a time. Lisa Lodge was located in a number of different properties around Ballarat. The Hostel closed in 1994. Some time after this, Hayeslee House (another home in Ballarat, run by the same committee) became known as Lisa Lodge. This Committee managed a number of institutions in the Ballarat region. Another institution to start in 1994 was Berry Street Incorporated that amalgamated with Sutherland Child, Youth and Family Services. In 2009 Berry Street was the largest independent child and family welfare organisation in Victoria. In 2012 Lisa Lodge merged with Berry Street to strengthen Berry Street's services provided in the Grampians Region of Victoria. This research paper explores the first ten years of Lisa Lodge. Of note is Lisa Lodge was set up by a group of women for a group of women. It depended on donations to continue operating. Data was collected through interviews and analysing minutes of meetings. Correspondence and newspaper clipping were also used. This is a historical report so there are no recommendations. Before proceeding with this project, Beverlee Leith had to seek approval from the Human Research Ethics Committee, University of Ballarat.
