This book records the stories of the soldier settler families in the Hawkesdale, Macarthur and Penshurst area after WWII, covering the estates of Kangertong, Glengleeson, Eerilya, Alanvale, Deerhurst, Moyne Falls, East Elwood, Gerrigerrup, Young's, Stonefield, Morpor and Weerangourt, with a section on the early recording of first Australians by von Guerard and Dowling.This book is significant as it records the experiences of the returned soldiers who settled in the Hawkesdale, Macarthur and Penshurst districts following WWII, their early living conditions, development of their farms, family and community life as told by many of the settlers and their children.
