Sunshine had traditional railway gates on Hampshire Road for decades and as traffic increased and Sunshine grew into a major industrial hub, the crossing became a bottleneck. In 1961, the Hampshire Road overpass opened, taking road traffic over the rail line and pedestrians using an underpass.
