Joseph Tainton was born in Gloucestershire about 1850. He emigrated to Australia at the age of 2 years in 1853 aboard the 'British Queen' with his father James Tainton (aged 39) , mother Ann (Drew, aged 34), and brother William 4 years. Henry James Tainton was the son of Joseph Tainton and Mary Jane Course. He married Rose Selina Fankhauser, daughter of Frederick William Fankhauser and Florence French at the East Burwood Methodist Church on the 14th November 1906. James was a gardener aged 26, and Rose 22 (domestic duties) The witnesses were Herbert Simeon Tainton and Mary Ann French. The Tainton and Fankhauser families were both early pioneering families of the East Burwood area. This is the twenty-first key presented to Ronald Arthur Edwards in August 1935. The celebration, held at his parents home in Husband Road, Forest Hill, was attended by many well known local people who signed his birthday key. Ronald Edwards was the youngest child of Arthur and Martha Edwards. In 1929 aged 15 he contracted poliomyelitis and became an invalid.
