Article and advertisement for sale of 331 - 335 Mitcham Road, Mitcham, home of Dr Threlkeld. It is part of the land purchased by Dr Francis Drake 75 years ago, he built a surgery and was involved with a private hospital on the next door site where Mitcham R.S.L. is now. He also conducted a sanatorium where Whitefriars is now. Between the wars Dr Stanley Cochrane built the home incorporated into a surgery in 1929. Newer church hall on southern side - land previously occupied by church tennis court. Two medical practices located nearby - Dr. Liebert directly adjacent to left -taken up by Dr. Carter and Dr. Cochrane three houses to right- taken over by Drs. Threlkeld and Twiddy. Both practices now absorbed by 'progress'.methodist church, mitcham. -

Dr Kenneth Twiddy retired February 1999 after 45 years working in the Mitcham community. He began his career in 1954 in practice with Dr Threlkheld on the corner of Mitcham Rd and Harrison St Mitcham. 30 years later he moved to a practice in Edward St and retired eventually from Whitehorse Medical Centre.
