This Trolley was used by the Bendigo RSL Womens Auxiliary in the Soldiers Memorial Institute to set up tables for meals, functions etc. When the Auxiliary folded in 2001/002 it was then used by the Ex Service Womens Association many of whom were on the Auxiliary until about 2015. This sign was used in the Billiard room of the Soldiers Memorial Institute Bendigo RSL. Years ago when the Billiard room had a section divided off for part of a Caretakers Residence it was placed on the internal roof of the residence. It was mainly used at RSL meetings. When the RSL Meetings moved to the B&DRSL Club Inc it was used during the day when the Museum was open. After the renovations to the Soldiers memorial in 2018 it was placed in what is now the Building & RSL History room of the BMM.Sign, timber construction box shape, illuminated faces front and rear with the RSL Logo in colour. As stated the roll is from 1939 through to 2005. In 2004/5 The Eaglehawk Sub Branch of the RSL wound down and amalgamated with the Bendigo District RSL Sub Branch Inc. The Sub branch initially from 1939 - 1943 rented a building located at 18 - 22 High St Eaglehawk. The Mathews bros then donated it to the Sub Branch in 1943 as per the plaque Cat No 8117. The Sub branch moved to a new building which was a Nissan Hut at No 2A Market Place in Eaglehawk 1957. This building was opened as per the plaque Cat No 8118. The original plaque Cat No 8117 was moved to the new building as well. The Branch remained there until they amalgamated with Bendigo. This Roll begins in 1924 which is incorrect. As the notations centre of the board states “there is gross errors and emissions etc”, “refer to Appendix One of A Century of Service”, the history of the RSL Bendigo, Cat No 8093. The true roll starts 2015/16. Also stated “As of 28.10.2000 - Bendigo District RSL”. Names were added on this role up to approx 2015. As a new Honour Board was being put together to combine the old & new RSL Sub Branch it was decided to omit the names on the old board so it only reflected “Bendigo RSL”. The new board will be placed in the Bendigo District RSL Sub Branch Havilah Rd plus also contain Life Members. The old board will remain in the Soldiers Memorial Institute Building. This chair was possibly donated as a "Presidents Chair" by Bill Nicholls. These Office chairs were originally placed in the front Office of the Soldiers Memorial Institute in 1921funded by the "Australian Mining Comforts Fund" and remained in use till approx 2012 when the Office was renovated. This item was placed in what was originally the "Writing Room" of the Soldiers Memorial Institute Bendigo when it was opened in 1921. After the renovations to SMI 2016 - 18 it was placed back in the same position. This cabinet with the "Book of Remembrance" (refer Cat No 8010) was originally placed in the foyer (vestibule) of the Soldiers Memorial Institute Bendigo in 1926. After the renovations to the SMI 2016 - 18 it was then placed in what is now the "Building and RSL History Room"Cabinet heavy timber construction with four legs, has a glass top that opens at the front and lockable. Has a red felt inset for the "BOOK of REMEMBRANCE". At the back of the cabinet set at an angle is a brass plaque with an inscription in black and red with scrolls around.
