This book developed from a project undertaken by the Orbost Women's Awareness Group. It began as an activity in learning how to conduct "Oral Histories". With a substantial amount of information resulting the group decided to publish the information in the form of this book. Orbost Women's Awareness Group was originally the "Orbost Women's Pulp Mill Association" created in 1989 to disseminate information about a proposed pulp mill planned for the area. When the proposal became non viable the group continued to meet as an awareness group. It continues today as the Orbost Women's Awareness Group.This book is a research tool for those interested in the timber industry of East Gippsland.A spiral bound 44pp book with a photo of the forests of East Gippsland on the cover. This certificate was presented at the East Gippsland Shire Council Australia Day celebrations on 26.1.2003. The veiling of McKillops bridge was a 'Year of the Outback' event. The event was organised by Orbost resident, Sr Helen Barnes RSJ. to show solidarity with rural people. The local community transformed the bridge into "a symbol of communal love and hope", when its sides were draped with hundreds of personal messages. McKillop's Bridge, located high in the Snowy Mountains, is named after George McKillop, a pioneering explorer of the area. The bridge is a vital link for isolated farming communities living beyond the Bonang highway. The Veiling of McKillops Bridge was a significant community event.A large framed certificate. The East Gippsland News is generally printed in Bairnsdale. this edition was a Snowy River Mail edition. The Snowy River Mail is a weekly newspaper published in Orbost in the Shire of East Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. Previously published as The Snowy River mail and Tambo and Croajingolong gazette from 1890 to 1911. The Gippsland Courier merged with the Snowy River Mail when proprietor Lachlan Ross moved to Orbost in 1910. In 1999 the paper was acquired by the Yeates family when the Hollins family retired from the newspapers business. The paper is still being produced by the fourth generation of the Yeates family as part of East Gippsland Newspapers. This seminar was organized by a committee as part of Victoria's 150th anniversary celebrations. It was published by the Dept. of Agriculture for East Gippsland Primary Industry Committee in 1985. Victoria's 150th anniversary was celebrated in 1984-1985. A 136 pp book with a black spine and a white cover. On the cover in black print is a logo created for the sesquicentenary of Melbourne and Victoria. Underneath the logo is VICTORIA 150 and Growing Together 1984-85.
