This is a small, antique metal sugar holder or sugar bowl, possibly of Victorian-era design. It has a rounded body supported by three spherical feet, giving it a slightly elevated stance. The rim is scalloped, creating a decorative wavy edge. A twisted, ornate handle is attached to the sides with curved brackets, allowing it to be carried easily. Mount Arapiles, or ‘Djurite’ is part of the Mount Arapiles-Tooan State Park approximately 30km west of Horsham. Leslie John Ellison was born in Horsham in 1920. He was the son of Charles Ellifson (1892-1969) and Lilly May Rogers (1897-!966). He became a teacher and in the 1940s he dropped the "f" from his surname. In 1949 he married Aileen Beryl Ervin (6/3/1924-24/5/2004) John was interested in history and specially in Christian church history. He recorded his thoughts and research in writing. John died 25/7/1981 and is buried with his wife at the Kangaroo Flat Cemetery.
