Has "32" on rear in pencil. Has Snows and the SEC building in the view. .2 - Spencer St bridge, looking north with Fish Market/Cool Stores and the VR Head Office in the view. Has Taylor and ? General Carriers and Nestle's truck in the view. .3 - William St? with passengers waiting at a safety zone - has the Dennys Lascelles building in the background. .4 - Flinders St looking north east with Snows, the SEC, a Hotel and Hearnes sign showing. Has a W2 436? route 27 Hawthorn eastbound. Bendigo trams 26,18,29,11, & 5 at Eaglehawk terminus on a special tour for the ARHS Vic. Div on day of Bendigo Centenarian tour, on 20/4/1962. Rose Series postcard P.10526 titled "Swanston St looking south, Melbourne", from just north of Collins Street. Trams in the view are S class 164 with destination West Preston set for the return journey plus W class 381? bound for Coburg Cemetery. On the left side is a cable tram in Collins Street waiting to cross Swanston Street. An early MMTB bus either a Thornycroft or Tiling Stevens is also heading south in Swanston Street with motorcycle and side car behind it. The cable tram signal is visible just to the left of the bus. This signal would continue to control all tram movements through the intersection until the insulation of modern motor traffic lights around 1929. On the left of photo is the imposing Queen Victoria building demolished in the mid 1960's to make way for the City Square.
