This hessian bag was likely used for packaging and transporting goods from Cunninghame (later Lakes Entrance) to Orbost. George Temple was one of Orbost's earliest storekeepers. This hessian bag represents the earliest form of transport of goods, possibly by boat or maybe by wagon from Cunninghame to orbost. A large piece of hessian - probably an opened bag which was used for sending goods. The material is pinned around cardboard. It has black lettering stencilled on it."1850 G.
