In the late 1940s the southern part of Bellbird Dell was untouched virgin bush. From the North the dell was worked by Cecil Rhodes whose father Victor owned the orchards and a cool store on land opposite the Vermont High School. Cecil worked the orchards between the creek and Alorak Road. Noel Webster was mayor of the City of Nunawading from 1973 to 1974. He was a founding member of the Vermont High School council and a board member of Maroondah Hospital. He was involved in U3A and was a founding member of the Early Planning for Retirement Association. Jean Webster was the president of the Nunawading Historical Society and both assisted the resettlement of Cambodian migrants.
