Joan (Herbert) Howard entered Clarendon Presbyterian Ladies College as a five-year-old in 1942. A consistently high-achieving student Joan was awarded Dux in 1944, Equal Head of Form 1947 and 1948, Honours 1949 and a Form prize in 1950.
