Painted on treated white linen, banner used to celebrate Tram No. 27, reaching 1,000,000 miles. Has wording in large red capital letters "This tram has just completed 1,000,000 miles in Ballarat". Fitted with metal eyelets in each corner and centre of top and bottom edges. See Reg. Item 3316 for photo taken by The Courier on 29/6/1968. Has been folded for storage. An annual tactile art exhibition held by the Royal Blind Society of New South Wales encouraged artists to create artworks that were meant to be touched by admirers. In 1999, more than 230 artists submitted entries, with then 66 finalists showcasing their work at Customs House. This program provides information on each of the 66 works selected for exhibition, as well as an information and advertising leaflets from Robert Mac G Design, who created the three prizes for the winning artists. Indicated or provided a location to tram drivers and passengers of a tram stop that trams had to be hailed or be requested to stop. Gives details of the fare section. Produced by The Met, possibly during the 1980's. Stop 115 on route 55 (changed to route 58 in May 2017) is in Queensbridge St at the Southbank/Casino tram stop.Demonstrates the form of tram stop that The Met used to replace former tram stop signs and shows the typical tram stop sign of the era. These have since been replaced with Yarra Trams badged signs.Sign - "Stop 115, Route 55", aluminum folded sheet overlain on both sides with a printed reflective sheet with the image of a person hailing or signalling or requesting a tram to stop. Formed with a short angle on one side drilled with three holes for attaching to a pole. Has two holes along the top edge where it was secured to a stop structure. This is a programme of a play "Present Laughter" staged by the Warrnambool Little Theatre in the early 1950s The playwright Noel Coward was very popular at that time .We have not found much information on the role of the Warrnambool Little Theatre. This programme is retained as a memento of a Warrnambool stage production in the mid 20th century.This is cream coloured piece of lightweight card folded in two to make four pages with black printing. WITH GREATER COMMUNITY STABILITY PERMANENT SCHOOLS WERE ESTABLISHED. CLUNES STATE SCHOOL NO. 1552 WAS OPENED IN JULY 1875 ON LAND DONATED BY RIVETT H. BLAND, MANAGER OF THE PORT PHILIP GOLD MINING CO. SHORTLY BEFORE WORLD WAR ONE, THIS SCHOOL BECAME VICTORIA,S THIRD HIGHER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. TODAY IT IS STILL USED TO EDUCATE THE CHILDREN OF CLUNES STATE SCHOOL NO. 136 WAS BUILT IN 1881 ON THE SITE OF AN EARLIER TEMPORARY SCHOOL THAT WAS BUILT IN 1857. THE DESIGN WAS FIRST USED AT HORSHAM. AND INCLUDES AN EARLY EXAMPLE OF A LARGE SCHOOL VERANDAH. IN 1892 THIS SCHOOL AMALGAMATED WITH STATE SCHOOL NO. 1552 AND WAS USED AS THE INFANT SCHOOL. IT CLOSED ITS DOORS IN 1922 AND WAS LATER USED AS A MILL FOR THE CLUNES KNITTING AND MAUFACTURING CO. LTD. IT NOW HOUSES THE CLUNES BOTTLE MUSEUM THE CLUNES CATHOLIC SCHOOL OPENED IN 1875 AND CLOSED IN 1926 THE LATEST EDUCATIONAL ASSET AT CLUNES IS A CAMPUS OF WESLEY COLLEGE. Arthur Henry Dear was an employee of the City of Kew, acting as Hall Keeper of the Kew Recreation Hall in Wellington Street, and later the new Kew City Hall in Cotham Road. The Arthur Dear Collection contains memorabilia - tickets, programmes, invitations - as well as his identification badge. Items in the collection dates from the 1940s to the 1960s. The Kew Recreation Hall (Wellington Street) and later the Kew City Hall (Cotham Road) were major locations in suburban Melbourne in the postwar period for civic and private events including theatre productions and exhibitions. The Arthur Dear Collection (in conjunction with the scrapbooks compiled by Marion Tilley) provide a comprehensive snapshot of performing arts in Kew during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s.
