One audio tape of a one hour interview with Sara Segal, an early teacher at Bialik in Carlton. Both interviewed by librarian Jan Marshall in April 1987. There is also an associated file of notes and correspondence between Jan Marshall and Hilary Rubinstein, co-author of a bicentennial history of Australian Jewry. The interviews have been digitised. Seafarers Service 22 October 2017 The first Seafarers Service was held on 23 October 1905 in the St Paul's Cathedral in London to celebrate the Centenary of the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson on 21 October 1805. Reverend Alfred Gurney Goldsmith launched the first Seafarers Service two years later and the first service was held on Sunday 10 November 1907. The service continues to reflect the full range of the maritime activities in Australia. The zinc 1 Reichspfennig coin was minted by Nazi Germany between 1940 and 1945 during World War II, replacing the bronze version. It is worth 1/100 or .01 of a Reichsmark. Made entirely of zinc, the 1 Reichspfennig is an emergency issue type, similar to the zinc 5 and 10 Reichspfennigs, and the aluminium 50 Reichspfennig coins from the same period.Obverse: Reichsadler with swastika. Metal sign with embossed lettering, the corners have been folded over with mounting holes put through the thicker sections. The embossing reads: 'This Land is Auriferous and Subject to Mining Conditions.' The sign is very rusted and there is no trace of the original paintwork. A handwritten note with the sign reads: 'This sign was found covered by grass and eucalyptus leaves etc., at the side of the road leading past the Eucy. Factory in the vicinity of the Whipstick forest. Found in 1977 by Jean and Ross Miller, Wireless Street, Kangaroo Flat. At the time of scanning the lead article.
