Book - Electoral Roll - Wannon, Electoral Roll
This book contains the names of those on the 1939 electoral roll for Wannon in Victoria. It is an original Federal electorate and was established in 1901. It has had some changes of boundaries over the years. The sub-divisions in the Wannon electorate in 1939 included Branxholme, Casterton, Dimboola, Hamilton, Harrow, Horsham, Horsham South, Jeparit, Koroit, Nhill, Port Fairy, Portland, Stawell and Warrnambool. This book, although tattered and incomplete is a useful one as it has the names of all those on the electoral roll in the Wannon electorate in 1939 and this includes the Warrnambool area. It will be useful to researchers. This is a book containing printed material. It has no cover and is missing several front and back pages. One page at the back is loose and the pages are dog-eared. Book, Mark Clisby, Guilty or innocent? : the Gordon Bennett case, 1992
Many Australians, in a typically Australian fashion, recall Gordon Bennett as "the bloke who shot through and left his troops at Singapore". Whether this is a fair assessment or not, there is no doubt that General Gordon Bennett's escape from Singapore in February 1942 left an ineradicable mark on Australia's military and legal history, and that the rights and wrongs of his actions will be debated forever.Index, bibliography, notes, ill, p.134.non-fictionMany Australians, in a typically Australian fashion, recall Gordon Bennett as "the bloke who shot through and left his troops at Singapore". Studying is not important to them and instead they have many interesting experiences including taking revenge on another school house that insults their hygiene, tricking some teachers who try to catch them breaking the rules, and finally achieving success as adults despite their teachers thinking that they would become failures. The story is semi-autobiographical of Kipling's own school experiences.p.272.fictionStalky and his two friends, Beetle and McTurk, attend a boarding school in Devon, England during the mid-19th century. Book, Warrnambool Botanic Garden Masterplan, February 1995
This Warrnambool Botanic Gardens Study and Report was funded by the National Estate Grants Program of the Australian Heritage Commission and the City of Warrnambool. It was monitored in progress by a Steering Committee consisting of representatives of the Botanic and Public Gardens Advisory Committee, the Warrnambool City Council, Friends of the Warrnambool Botanic Gardens and National Estate Grants Program representatives and community representatives. The Warrnambool Botanic Gardens were first sited close to the Hopkins River in 1859. In 1869 the gardens were relocated to the present day location in Botanic Road. This plan is of some importance as it gives an overview of the history and current condition in 1995 of the Warrnambool Botanic Gardens and draws up a plan for its future development. It is useful for research and for consideration by the City Council today of policy making and further development of the gardens. This is a publication containing a master plan for the Warrnambool Botanic Gardens. It has a section on acknowledgements, a summary, eight chapters, and 14 appendices. The pages are bound with plastic rings, the front cover is plasticized with an aerial photograph of the Botanic Gardens and surrounds and the back cover is lightweight cardboard. The pages contain printed material, fold out maps, sketches and diagrams and many photocopied photographs.Front Cover: City of Warrnambool, Warrnambool Botanic Gardens, Conservation and Development Plan, Jill Orr-Young, Patrick Mallon, SF Consultants Pty Ltd, February 1995. warrnambool botanic gardens, warrnambool -
