An entry ticket to Manical Mechanicals in Marysville in Victoria.An entry ticket to Manical Mechanicals in Marysville in Victoria. Manical Mechanicals was owned and operated by Marg and Alistair Mackie in Murchison Street in Marysville in Victoria. It offered a display of various engineering wonders of the world all made from Meccano. There was also a selection of models, toys and other items that all moved. The Meccano models were all built by Doug Wilson who lived in Wangaratta in Victoria. In 1937, when he was 12, Doug won first prize at Brunswick Technical School for making a Meccano model aeroplane with three rotating propellers. Ceremonial object - Ceremonial collar
Ceremonial purple velvet collar with gold metallic bullion fringe to outside edge and gold metallic ribbon and ribbon lace to all edges. At each end is a five point star in gold zardozi work in sequins and metallic thread with central couched button. Above the stars on the LHS is couched zardozi work initial G and on RHS couched zardozi work initial M and above these are two identical five point stars as lower ones with the addition to each of two metallic thread tassles. At the bottom centre of the collar are two small rings. In a separate bag is a purple velvet rosette with central sequined button and braided surround with large tassle all in gold metallic thread.ceremonial collar, grand master -

Ephemera - Set of 8 tram transfer or check tickets, Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board (MMTB), 1920s and 1930s
Passengers could often transfer from one service to another - eg changing from a tram to a bus, without having to pay a second fare. A transfer ticket would be issued on request and this along with the original fare ticket would be shown to the conductor or bus driver at the time of transfer. Check tickets would be issued by a conductor to record that the person had shown a periodical eg scholars ticket. This enabled passenger counting as well. Newspaper Clipping (p7) from "Catholic", No. 178, November 1998, contains the story written by Mother May Oliver, Imp. James O'Collins RC Bishop of Ballarat, January 1945, chapter 7 of "All for All", relating to the life of the 'the young girl countess Elizabeth Wolff-Metterich of Germany. The story revolves around her visit to Melbourne and Ballarat - in particular the visit to Lorretto - sighting of 'a tram (streetcar) bearing 'convent' as its head sign'. The reference to arrival by tram in the article suggests by the author that the Countess arrived by electric tram (by the use of the word 'streetcar'. In actual fact, date of visit was 1898, so it would have be the horse tram.
