Built on the original site of the Government Camp, the Sandhurst prison was built in 1863 when it housed both male and female prisoners. In 1972 its name was changed to Bendigo Prison and it then ceased operation in 2004. Tickets used by the Victorian Railways from the time of introduction of decimal currency (1966). At the time, 3c was the lowest fare in use. 1 and 2c were printed, but not issued. A 2c ticket was printed but a copy has not survived. Understood to be used until the introduction of time based tickets in the early 80s. Many of the items in the Christian-Washfold Collection relate to the Yarra River and its use as as a recreational resource. BHS CollectionHanro Stand Alone Counter Display Picture: A coloured picture of two men on the golf course playing golf modelling Hanro knitwear. One has on a beige long sleeve V necked cardigan. The pockets on either side have a pleat in the centre and a band at the top. The garment has a small vertical brown stripe running through out the fabric, it is buttoned up with five brown buttons. The other is a yellow V necked vest. The Vest is knitted in a small cable pattern with knit bands around the neck and arms. At the bottom on the picture is a label with white background and *Hanro in red and black print and Knitwear for men*. The very bottom printed in yellow is *'The Quality Is A Proud Tradition. The material for the front is plastic covered card. The back is green tin. A brown card rectangular strip used for a stand and has two metal holes with string attached. Indicated or provided a location to tram drivers and passengers of a tram stop that trams had to be hailed or be requested to stop. Gives details of the fare section. Produced by The Met, possibly during the 1980's. Stop 115 on route 55 (changed to route 58 in May 2017) is in Queensbridge St at the Southbank/Casino tram stop.Demonstrates the form of tram stop that The Met used to replace former tram stop signs and shows the typical tram stop sign of the era. These have since been replaced with Yarra Trams badged signs.Sign - "Stop 115, Route 55", aluminum folded sheet overlain on both sides with a printed reflective sheet with the image of a person hailing or signalling or requesting a tram to stop.
