Newspaper - Article, Bill Returns His 'Legacy', 1977
A newspaper article from 1977 that relates the story of Bill Duell. He became a junior legatee about 10 years prior when his father died. Later he served in Vietnam as a specialist vehicle operator. He then decided to join Legacy with the idea of helping other children enjoy some of the benefits he gained as a Legacy boy. He was also in the Police Force. It was part of publicising Legacy week. The article was cut from the newspaper and pasted into a scrapbook. For many years Legacy kept scrapbooks of press clippings that related to their work and publicity. Mission to Seafarers Victoria
Flyer, Victorian Seamen's Mission, The Flying Angel, 1963-1966
The Mission accommodated seamen from all nationalities from the earliest days of operation. Asian seafarers are recorded visiting the Mission from the late 19th C. onwards. The first Chinese chaplain to be appointed was Rev Steven Wong who moved to Melbourne in the 1960s. Rev Wong served from 1963-1966 and according to his sons helped design these information brochures. Images of Rev'd Wong are included in the VC Database. The pamphlet gives days and times of activities such as dances and films and chapel services. The Chinese writing was made by Reverend Stephen WongA rare surviving period example of a non-english speaking flyer on information about the Mission to Seafarers Victoria Commercially printed paper single fold flyer providing directions and information to the Central Club, Missions to Seamen at Flinders St extension, in Mandarin. Set of 16 mixed SEC tickets found in Ballarat No. 18, behind the north side sandboxes No. 2 end 6/12/1997. Tickets have been used and have varying degrees of dirt. The image file shows the nature of the damage. Tickets have not been individually numbered with the Registration Number, but can be identified by their ticket number and denomination. All SEC penny or pre decimal tickets with one SEC decimal issue. All on white paper unless otherwise noted.
