Letter, Biography of Sir Stanley Savige, 1957
Series of documents recording the second progress payment to W.B. Russell for writing 'There Goes a Man', his signed receipt, outline of progress and the way in which the first progress payment was used. He notes four main fields of activity - sifting and arranging Savige's own records, interviewing friends and relatives, background reading (newspapers etc.), and making notes from interviews and source material. Most of the first progress payment was directed to reimbursement of salary lost whilst working full time on the book.Part of the story of how the book 'There goes a Man' came to be created.Typed documents, black on white. This certificate was awarded by the Eaglehawk RSL Sub Branch to Miss H. Hutchinson (Hanna) on 17.5.1946 in Appreciation and loyalty to Service personnel as a Member of the Eaglehawk Ladies Auxiliary during the War years. The Auxiliaries efforts abled the furnishing of the Club rooms and raise 230.00 Pounds for the Returned Soldiers Distress Fund. These notes are based on a report prepared for the Board re the donation of materials collected by Wal Jack and donated to the BTM in 2011. The following notes are general across the collection unless written for a specific Ballarat item. Has proven association with Wal Jack and tramway developments within Australasia until 1964 and given their extent particular significance. Features Continental Europe trams.Brown covered bound album with word "Scrap Album on front cover, with dark brown paper inside covers holding some 15 sheets of card on which photos have been mounted using photo corners of various types, captions in black ink with some labels pasted under the photos in black ink. The album originally started as a the Geelong album and remnants of photos hinges and notes left on the sheets. Has some 101 black and white photographs.
