STS Young Endeavour is a brigantine rigged tall ship, purpose built for sail training as a bicentenary gift from the Government and the people of the United Kingdom to the people of Australia. Construction began in May 1986 in Lowestoft, England and on 3 August, 1987 the ship began the voyage to Australia with a crew of 12 young people from Great Britain and 12 young Australians. The official handover ceremony took place on 25 January, 1988 in the presence of their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales in Farm Cove, Sydney Harbour.Glass, commemorating the visit of the Young Endeavour. Items belonged to Robert ALLEN No 7925 6th Field Artillery Brigade AIF. The grooves on the handles are from the barrel rifling, they have been engraved "Bapaume" "Pozieres." "Ypres". refer 1786P for service history also 1787.4.Trench art mounted into a picture frame (attached by wire through holes in back of frame) nine items made from spent artillery shells. Three cheese/butter knives, one spoon, two rising sun badges, two "Australia" shoulder badges, one RAA Corps badge. B&W print and scanned images of a coloured postcard lent to the BTM by Mr. Norm DePomeroy, Dec. 1997. Image is an ESCo tram just past the intersection of Doveton St. and Sturt St. travelling east along the north side of Sturt. Steet towing a heavily laden horse tram as a trailer. Photo appears to be taken soon after opening of the electric trams, as the tram does not have any destination box above the driver. Possibly summer 1905/1906. Numerous people in the street, some horse drawn vehicles in the photograph. Shows buildings along the south side of Sturt St. and part of the verandah of the building at the NE corner of Doveton St. 1 copy held at 8/98. Series of 14 letters, memos, correspondence, documents regarding the interface between trains and cable trams at Level crossings on the inner circle line - Queens Parade Clifton Hill. Includes a cutting about an accident from the Age 27/6/1922 where people were injured due to the safety bar. Includes discussion about the possibility of cable trams entangled in a broken strand, actions of signalmen, Victorian Railways instructions, correspondence between the MMTB, Tramway Board and the Railways including letterhead, notice to grip men and conductors describing the operation of the bolt or bar that would prevent a grip passing the point when the gates were closed.
