A postcard to the Comradeship Committee when a Legatee was travelling in Jerusalem (May 1995). The post card was addressed to the President of Melbourne Legacy. It said: Dear David - Greetings from Jerusalem. I had the honour, a few days ago, as part of the 50th year Commemoration Services ending the European War, to lay a wreath on behalf of VAJEX (together with the Australian Ambassador to Israel) joined by the Military Attaches from many allied countries - the Ceremony was held at the Holocaust Centre, and it was a most memorable occasion. A postcard to the Comradeship Committee when a Legatee was travelling in Austria. "Bozen mit Blick each Osten" which translates as "Bolzano with view to the east". It is addressed to Mr H Caffrey, Chairman Comradeship at Melbourne Legacy. It is not dated and is signed Brian Lucky Luscombe. It says: "While lunching on a balcony overlooking this lovely place, I thought of soup, sandwiches and scones and Melbourne Legacy. And then Mary said "have another glass of red". At 6000 lire a bottle it's not too bad. We escaped the Italian airline/train strike and are now safely in the land of the Sound of Music. Another 5 weeks of this summer in sunny Europe and I'll be back to annoy you. And you'd better have a new job for me. Regards. Letter from Martin Middlebrook to F.G. Davey requesting information about the 'Raid on Nuremburg' about which Middlebrook was writing a book. Part of the F.G. Davey Collection. Copy of typed letter dated November 2, 1961 from R K Munro to R M Ansett, re Basil Watson's aircraft flight 'the first man to build and fly an aeroplane long distances in Australia way back in 1916-17' The letter details Basil's flight from Melbourne (Point Cook) to Bendigo on 29th November, and carried the first letter to be carried by aeroplane in Australia. 1916 and discusses the carriage of mail by aeroplane. R. Keith Munro also writes of a list of significant aeronautical history dates that he encloses ( not with item ) and requesting details about commencement dates of Ansett Airways and ANA. Archie Harker and Ruby Baker conducted their love affair through correspondence betwen England, where Archie lived , and Heathmont where Ruby lived. They became engaged in 1931 and Archie sent Ruby an engagment ring. He came to Australia on the Oronsay and lived in Carlton for a while. They were married in 1937, lived in Mitcham Ruby's sister Amy married Stanley Wieland hence the connection with the Wieland FamilyLetters from Archie Harker to Ruby Wilson on his voyage to Australia on the SS Oronsay (part of the Orient Line). One letter sent via Paquebot, and a fan-fold picture letter sheet with letter and shipboard photos sent via Airmail from Perth.

Tony and Jan Andreatta had a general store at Newhaven. Letter is Christmas greetings from Sheffield, UK with family information. Airgraph letters were invented in 1943. The airgraph forms, upon which the letter was written, were photographed and then sent as negatives on rolls of microfilm to reduce weight for airmail.
