Date 25-7-87 ...The Merle Bush Trefoil Guild was registered in Bendigo on 18/06/1981.The decision to disband the Merle Bush Trefoil Guild was made at a General Meeting on 17/02/2016. The group agreed to continue as the Merle Bush Friendship Group. The Australian Trefoil Guilds connect women who are either actively involved in Girl Guiding or have a history with Girl Guiding. The purpose of a Trefoil Guild is to keep alive the spirit of the Promise and Law, carry this spirit into the community and to give support Guiding.Blue vinyl covered four ring binder containing photographs of activities of the Merle Bush Trefoil Guild. The photographs are mounted (glued) on to buff coloured card from manilla folders cut in half. 61 pp with hand written numbers in top RH corner. Pages 25 and 26 Missing. The Girl Guides had a camp at Barree in January 1965 and wore this scarf. Historical: Girl Guides was a popular club for girls in the 1960s. Wilma Davies was a leader in the Kiewa Valley group and in Victoria. Blue-green cotton triangular neck tie with a brown kangaroo ironed on. In July 1909, a modest 12-page booklet was put together by members of the fledgling Old Ruytonians Association (ORA) and distributed to the Ruyton Girls' School community. It was one of their first projects, and their aim was to nurture continuing interest in the School among former and current students. They named it "The Ruytonian." At first, The Ruytonian was produced twice yearly, and always bore a plain cover with a simple name banner. Initially, it was the work of volunteer editors from the ORA, but in 1913 they handed the publication over to the first student editors, Esther Gibson and Lucy Tickell. Since that time, the style and content of The Ruytonian has continuously evolved. The biggest shifts occurred in 1942 when it transitioned to a yearly publication, and in 1969 when it moved to a larger A4 format with a cover image specifically selected for that year.The record has strong historic significance as it pertains to the fourth oldest girls' school in Victoria, Australia. Ruyton was founded in 1878 in the Bulleen Road, Kew, home of newly widowed Mrs Charlotte Anderson (now High Street South). Thus, the record can be used as a reference example for research into Victorian school history. Kew Historical Society IncUniform - Girl Guide Uniform, 6th Kew, Scout Association of Victoria, c.1987
This Guide uniform was worn by Jane Reid when she was a Guide at 6th St Hilary's between 1987 and 1989. The uniform consists of a pale blue blouse, junior navy A-line skirt and navy wool beret with the World Guide badge embroidered on it. The scarf with the Victorian State Badge at the back is a triangle and can be used as a sling or bandage in an emergency. Jane's woggle (a band holding the tie) was made by hand. Some girls made woggles from leather, cord or items from nature such as gumnuts. The leather belt with the Girl Guide buckle bears a metal badge obtained at Britannia Park, the Victorian Guide camping ground at Yarra Junction. Her white lanyard (indicating she was a Patrol Leader) and brown leather pouch are attached to the belt. Metal badges pinned to the collar of the blouse are the World Guide badge on the right and the Guide Trefoil or Promise badge on the left. The tapes on the left sleeve identify the Guide Company, District and Region. Badges on the right sleeve are interest and achievement badges.jane reid, costumes, uniforms, girl guides 6th kew -
