By grand final day, Geelong was in the midst of a 26 game unbeaten run, and Collingwood posed few problems on the big day. The Cats triumphed by 46 points after a dominant second half. Base is circular with sloped sides with a depressed circle in the top centre. There is a thin rounded stand which supports the top of the timber base which is a flat oval shape. A brown leather football is attached to the top of the timber base. Football is comprised of four individual panels which have been stitched together. One panel is attached to the timber base. A second panel has the SHERRIN logo although this is heavily faded. A third panel has a drawing of a pennant which reads -PREMIERSHIP 1952- above an oval shape with -WON BY/ GEELONG- written inside and the team scores on either side. Album comprises heavy cardboard covers with brown Rexene covers, with inside papers of heavy dark grey photo album paper, 36 leaves of dark grey photo paper and two brass interscrews within black grommets. Title page has been hand written to Les Denmead, dated 6/7/1970, thanking Mr. Denmead for his assistance over the years. Photos divided into the three SEC Provincial Tramway cities, each with a typed name proceeding the set of photos. Two further photos of Geelong were at the rear of the album, but were not in position when catalogued. One of these photos may be Reg. Item 1874 - photo of Geelong scrubber tram. Bus timetable for Davis Urban Services Ballarat, route 15 on light green duplicating paper. Route 15 - Sturt St. West to and from City. Not dated, but probably c1975, as Davis have moved to their "then" new depot in Norman St. Ballarat. Timetable gives times for departure to and the terminals, notes on intermediate times, notes on variations to standard arrangements and location of terminals. On Sunday, the bus served the Botanical Gardens area and route 15A, which served Lake Wendouree by Gardens Kiosk. Has a Davis bus logo - poppet head and bus. Was designed to be folded in the centre. June 2012 represented 50 years since the Colac to Beech Forest to Weeaproinah narrow guage railway was closed. The last goods train ran on 27 June 1962, and the last passenger excursion train on 30 June 1962. The railway was the lifeblood of the West Otways for several decades, enabling farmers and saw millers to bring into economic production the natural wealth of the region. St George's Church of England, Mont Albert was built in 1886 and from 1904 until 1907 was known as Holy Trinity, Surrey Hills. As the population increased there was a need for a church in Surrey Hills. This brick church was consecrated in 1922 and replaced the earlier one built in 1907 on the adjacent site in Union Road. After construction of the brick church, the earlier one became a Sunday School. The copper spire was added in 1926, which dates this photo as post-1926. Norman Carter took many photos of Surrey Hills and Mont Albert in the 1920s; many were associated with events and activities of the Church of England.Black and white photo of the 'newly' constructed brick Holy Trinity Church in Union Road, Surrey Hills taken from near the south-west corner of Guildford Road. At the edge of the church roof and on the horizon is 'The Knoll' on the corner of Union Road and Wandsworth Road. To the left of this is 297 Mont Albert Road, home of the Michael Parer family and further left is "Quamby", home of the Sherar family. This is easily recognised by the square viewing tower located on the west wing of the house. The Sherar family owned 'Quamby' from 1900 until 1925, when it became Mosgiel Private Hospital. Norman Carter took many photos of Surrey Hills and Mont Albert in the 1920s; many associated with events and activities of the Church of England. Information from the donor by email gives: Norma Pryde is identified as the girl in the second row on the far right. Her parents Norman & Hilda Pryde lived at 50 Broughton Road, Surrey Hills. The home was named 'Strathaven' after the town in Scotland where Norman's father came from. Norman & Hilda were married in 1923. Norma was born in 1924. Norman worked for Moran & Cato so the family moved around a lot for his work and is thought to have rented out the house from time to time. During some time in the 1920s they were listed on electoral rolls in Nyah West and then in 1942 they were listed in Hamilton. When the war ended they came back to Melbourne and in the late 1940s built a home at Blackburn. Norma married John Cleak in 1947 in Camberwell. This photo is representative of the large classes that were common in the interwar period.An original B&W postcard photo of a class taken outside against a brick wall. There are 34 boys in 2 rows. This well indexed booklet was produced by the Warrnambool Standard with the assistance of the City of Warrnambool. It contains lists of local government council and councillors for the surrounding south western district. There are photographs of the Warrnambool City Council members and main officers. Information provided covers services for accommodation, animal welfare, Churches, community organisations, complaints, counselling, courts, education, employment, health, legal, material aid, public safety, recreation, recycling, community support, tourism and transport. The booklet contains advertisements for some local businesses. This service directory provides a snapshot of businesses and support services available in Warrnambool and the South Western District in 1991. It will be useful for researchers looking at this area in the late 20th century. Violet Street Primary School No. 877, was established in 1866 as the German Common School. It was designed by William Vahland who laid the foundation stone in February of that year. It was built by subscriptions from the local German community. May Coles (1915 - 2007) worked for more than 25 years at the exclusive Georges store in Collins St. May lived nearby the West Preston tram terminus and caught the tram to work. The work was commissioned by May to recall those special years of her work at Georges.
