Stephen Charman, 1821-1906 a market gardener, donated land for the first Methodist Chapel, Cemetery and School in Charman Rd Cheltenham 1855. The enrollment was 36 pupils with Mr Frederick Meeres as Teacher. 1863 the school is called Beaumaris Common School No 84 with 70 pupils and Walter Meeres as Teacher. 1869 another 2 acres in Charman Road were granted by the Education Board and brick building built . 1872 State School 84 Beaumaris was increasing enrollments and 1878 a new brick school was built to accommodate 174 pupils and the name changed to Cheltenham State School No.84 1894 Mentone State School No.2950 amalgamated with Cheltenham SS No.84. 1910 the buildings were in disrepair, overcrowding was increasing and renovations were made 1912 with further additions in 1925 and 1937. Post WW11 extra prefabricated Classrooms were added as enrollment increased to 1038 in 1955.. Cheltenham East State School 4754 was opened as housing development spread over the City of Moorabbin . Centenary of St. John's Presbyterian Church Forest Street, Bendigo 1872-1972. List of former Ministers of St. John's Church. A brief account of the history of the church is given. Extracts from minutes of Presbytery Church of Castlemaine 2/7/1872 states that they had not yet held any Sabbath Services in Sandhurst a grant not exceeding Twenty Pounds to meet the expenses of such Services necessary to establish a Second Charge in Sandhurst. Services were conducted in the Albion Hall, collections were obtained were liberal, Memorial signed by 104 members and adherents who expressed their desire to be recognized as a Congregation. St. John's first met at the Orderly Room (site of the Art Gallery), then at the Albion Hall (site of the Royal Princess Theatre), they then moved to St. James Hall (now Myer Store). In 1874 a weatherboard church in Forest St. was erected seating 550 persons, and named St. John's Presbyterian Church. It then became known as St John's Free Church and in 1880 it was admitted into the Presbyterian Church of Victoria and named Chalmer's Church. History accounts goes on to explain the further changes which happened within the church to 1972. Many other details have been included in the book such as the costs of the pews the 'Ladies Work Committee', a monthly church paper, Anniversary platform, securing a Manse, the year of the 'black-out', food parcels, the purchase of a building, the pioneering of religious films in church services, renovations, Sunday School, Stewardship Campaign, electronic organ. The history goes on detailing the growth of the organisations in the church; Choir, Sunday School Sunday School Ladies Auxiliary, PWMU, Afernoon Fellowship, Ladies Guild, PGF, Men's Club and Brotherhood, Bible Class, Sporting Clubs, PFA, Mission Band, Creche, Cradle Roll, Board of Management. Originally a parish church, St Paul's became a cathedral in 1981 when Bendigo was declared a separate diocese. The church, designed by Robert A Love, was dedicated in 1868, with the bells being added in 1873 and the organ in 1883. The weatherboard former Golden Point Methodist Church was undergoing renovation in 2014. The Vliet is a canal in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It starts at the Oude Rijn at Leiden and joins the Delfshavense Schie canal at Delft. Places along its banks include Voorschoten, Leidschendam, Voorburg, The Hague and Rijswijk. The canal was dug in 47 AD under command of Roman general Corbulo, who wished to connect the river Rhine, of which the current Oude Rijn stream in Roman times was the main branch, to the Meuse estuary. It is unclear what the canal's trajectory was beyond the current city of Delft; the Delfshavense Schie canal, which connects Delft to the Nieuwe Maas river was not dug until 1389. In the Middle Ages the Vliet was an important trade link that attracted all kinds of trade, as it flowed through the heart of the County of Holland. Windmills have been constructed alongside the Vliet, including the completely renovated mill 'De salamander' in Leidschendam. The Vliet area was particularly attractive among richer families, who built their mansions along its banks.An historic small town scene etched (or possibly printed) on thin metal and subsequently fastened to a plywood backing. The delicately presented scene is said to show the intersection of Old Church Street and the Vliet Canal bridge in Voorburg, as well as a section of wharf. On the canal are one large and two much smaller vessels. A very tall crane-like construction arises from the wharf to the roof of waterside buildings. The people are soberly dressed in possibly 17th or 18th century costumes.On the reverse has been written: "Oude Kerkstraat Brug over de Vliet Voorburg". (Old Church Street; Bridge over the Vliet canal; Voorburg). However, research proves that the church is actually the Old Church in Delft, a short distance further down the Vliet Canal.

This photograph was published in Church and Nation 12 December 1984. The photograph was taken at celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of Parkdale Uniting (formerly Methodist) Church. The current brick veneer building incorporated an earlier weatherboard church built on the site. The old church was brick veneered and tiled in 1961. New kindergarten rooms were built at the rear in 1970. Anglican services were first held in Carisbrook in 1851. In 1854 church services and a school were conducted in the Parish Hall. In 1864 - 1866 the blue stone church was erected. The interior was renovated in 1966 and the vestry was added in 1972. Ray MOLONY Born Albury, New South Wales "Notes for Raymond Walter Molony: Raymond Walter Molony grew up in the Dandenongs, and Maffra where he went to school. He attenended Sale Technical School, before studying at R.M.I.T. from where he gained a diploma of pottery and technical teaching qualifications. He taught at Shepparton Technical College leaving there in 1977 to become a full time potter. Ray Molony established the Mud Factory Pottery in Shepparton in 1977 after purchasing, renovating and extending the old Kialla Methodist church, and building a two storey mud brick pottery. Two of Ray and Deirdre Molony's sons, Kevin and Russell, were employed during the 1980s and 1990s. Kevin Molony left due in the early 1990s due to the recession at that time, and Russell Molony followed soon after. Both competent throwers, with Russell making some creative slab work while Ray continuing to decorate the works. Ray Molony continued to produce studio ceramics at the kialla studion until selling the property in 2000, and semi retiring to Miepoll. The King's Banners 1904 and 1920 were presented to the 8th Light Horse Regiment for Service in the Boer War and World War One. They were placed in Benalla Holy Trinity Church on unknown date. They were found in a cupboard during renovations in 1976, placed in a specially constructed case and mounted on the wall of the foyer of the Church. Set of eight colour photos showing the interior of the Original St Martins Church Hall after being moved to Belgrave Heights and renovated by the Shire of Yarra Ranges to become the premises of Southern Sherbrooke Historical Society. In his early years Stan Savige had a special friend, Perc Markham, with whom he grew up and attended South Yarra Baptist Church. Perc was rejected on medical grounds when he sought to enlist for service in World War 1. He worked with his father in the building business and established a reputation as a builder and renovator of houses. After the foundation of Legacy, Stan Savige utilised the services of Perc for Legacy tasks on a number of occasions. In token of this relationship, in about 1936, Stan Savige presented this desk to Perc Markham who used it until his death in 1978. The desk then passed into the care of Perc’s son, Lloyd, who perceived that it could be of both historical and sentimental value to Melbourne Legacy. He presented it to Legacy in November 1984 so that it may be used by those who have cause to respect the memory of one whose energies were devoted to the establishment and perpetuation of the Legacy movement.
