The presentation was from The Bendigo Council to the Northern Victorian Regiment - 38th Infantry Battalion in relation to it's 100th Anniversary of being formed. It was at the Queen Elizabeth Oval on 28th Aug 1958. 16 page white booklet. On front is the Bendigo City emblem, document titles, Regiment Emblem, Date and location. Booklet is a souvenir program. Red and Purple line (Council colours) running down the side of the page. Contents include list of Councillors, Description of Event, Order of Ceremony, History of Regiment, Battle Honours and a brief history of Bendigo.Cover has City of Bendigo emblem and the words "Presents "An Address of Honor" to the Northern Victorian Regiment, 38th Infantry Battalion.38th battalion, 100 year anniversary

The City of Greater Bendigo Council was constituted on 7 April 1994 as part of a statewide program of local government reform enacted between 1993 and 1995. The reform process reduced the number of councils from 210 to 78. The City of Greater Bendigo has been appointed as the successor in law for the City of Bendigo, the Rural City of Marong, the Borough of Eaglehawk and the Shires of Huntly and Strathfieldsaye and has assumed any rights, assets and liabilities of these abolished councils. On 18 November 1994 the City of Greater Bendigo Council has been appointed as the successor in law for the Shire of McIvor and has assumed any rights, assets and liabilities of this abolished council. On the 19 January 1995 the City of Greater Bendigo Council has been appointed as the successor in law for the Redesdale district of the Shire of Metcalfe. The Bendigo Heritage Advisory Service is a committee appointed to provide natural and cultural advise to the City of Greater Bendigo council. George Archibald Ellis (1928-2019) was a long time Long Gully resident and local historian. He married Edna Hocking in 1953 and they are both buried at White Hills. In this photo he is receiving a cheque for $1000 on behalf of the Long Gully Historical Society. Daryl McClure (1947-2015) was born in Bendigo and became a radio announcer in 1964. He was a Bendigo Councilor 1969-1970 and was elected the Liberal Party member for Bendigo in the Victorian Legislative Assembly where he served 1973-1982. The Bolton family founded a printing business in Bendigo in 1885. Benjamin Bolton was a prominent businessman and on this death in 1901 William Bolton (Mayor 1936 -37) and his brothers took over the business. This document relating to the Agreement between the Bendigo Council and the Bendigo Returned Sailors and Soldiers Association re the use of the Soldiers Memorial Institute Pall Mall Bendigo is a day to day working copy of Cat No 8222 dated 22.4.1920 pre the opening of the building in 1921. Some of the hand written notes in left hand column are; Rental, Maintenance, Trustees, Right to hold meetings, Conduct, Control of grounds and portico.Legal document heavy paper light brown colour, basically a copy of Cat No 8222 without the hand written signatures and red seals. They are held together via a green cord sewn through the papers. Prior to the election of female Councillors and Mayors in the 1960’s, the Lady Mayoress role was one of the few ways women could officially undertake civic duties. Mayoresses made important contributions to their local communities through their charity work and as ambassadors for their region on a state and federal level. They also undertook some Mayoral duties on occasions when their husband was unavailable. The Bendigo Mayoress medallion was commissioned by Sir George Lansell Jnr in the tradition of making a mayoral presentation in gold. It was first worn by Mayoress Snell and was presented to her on April 11th, 1956 at the municipal centenary dinner at the Shamrock Hotel. The medallion was passed on to each subsequent Mayoress when the new Mayor was appointed. The Mayoress medallion was commissioned by Sir George Lansell Jnr in the tradition of making a mayoral presentation in gold. The drop and chain have been hand crafted n 18ct yellow gold and engraved by a master engraver also by hand.
