Item in the collection re “MAJ. JOHN BALSILLIE MBE” Refer to Cat No 118.5 for his service details, RSL and Council history.Brown leather Sam Browne Belt fitted with double clawed brass buckle. A brass stud and leather loop secured the free end of the belt tongue. The shoulder strap, 32 mm wide, is connected by a similar loop and brass stud arrangement. A pair of "D" shaped rings are mounted at the bottom of the belt (for the sword). The belt also has a flat brass hook mounted against the belt, between the “D” rings. These were issued to US Troops in South Vietnam. They are designed to be fitted under their poncho. These were much sought after items by Australian soldiers obtained by swapping, purchasing etc.This is a nylon type lightweight blanket for a soldier in jungle warfare. It is camouflaged with curved patterns of black, brown and two ton green. The outer material is of a "Ripstop" material. It is hemmed with with an olive nylon material. On the corners and centre border are the straps 200 mm long x width 6 mm. It has internal insulating material similar to hollow Dacron fibres.vietnam war, us army kit.

This was a blue cardboard covered book. In the centre of the cover are the letters 'C of A' with a broad arrow underneath. The book is bound with two metal staples. Inside has ruled pages, 9 mm between lines, the owner has ruled up a few pages in red biro. Only pages 1 and 4 have any writing.
