Historical information

These were issued to US Troops in South Vietnam. They are designed to be fitted under their poncho. These were much sought after items by Australian soldiers obtained by swapping, purchasing etc.

Physical description

This is a nylon type lightweight blanket for a soldier in jungle warfare. It is camouflaged with curved patterns of black, brown and two ton green. The outer material is of a "Ripstop" material. It is hemmed with with an olive nylon material.
On the corners and centre border are the straps 200 mm long x width 6 mm. It has internal insulating material similar to hollow Dacron fibres.
