The principle is the same as a mortar and pestle.This item has two pieces both are made from cast iron and are rusted and a dark brown color. One is a tapering cylinder 16.5 centimetres wide a its top, the first two and a half centimetres down tapper to 13.5 diameter, the next nine centimetres tapper to 11 centimetres diameter. the last two and a half centimetres is a solid base that flares out to a 16.5 centimetre diameter, the inside of the bottom of the cylinder is a bowl shape. The other piece is a solid tapering shape, it's four and a half centimetres in diameter at one end which tappers to three centimetres in four centimetres of length, the next sixteen centimetres tapper to two centimetre diameter. This kettle was made in the 1880s.Cast iron kettle 16 centimetres diameter at its base and 18 centimeters diameter at its widest point 11 centimeters above the base, it then curves up another three centimetres where there is a ten centimetre diameter hole. A non-matching metal lid with a one and a half centimetre knob covers the hole. Three centimetres from the base of the kettle there is a two and a half centimetre diameter spout which tappers to one and a half centimetres, it's 14 centimetres long and has two bends. A handle is attached to the top of the kettle, it is two centimetres wide, it extends two centimetres straight up at both ends that are 12 centimetres apart then forms an open oval 20 centimetres wide and nine centimetres high, it's one and a half centimetres thick for 11 centimetres at the top and has groves for fingers on the under edge.K23.1kettle, cast iron

These cherry pitters were used in the early 1900's. The Wandin area had many cherry orchards at the time.A cast iron and wood dual cherry pitter which can be mounted to a table or bench with claws tightened by a winged-head screw underneath. The handle has a wooden bulbous knob, two long curved steel shafts which when engaged, forcibly removes the stone or pit from the cherry. It has a rectangular cast iron trough for the unpitted cherries on the opposite end which is inclined. When the pit is removed it falls in to a small bowl you can place underneath and the cherries are pierced onto the prong to be removed by hand, falling again into a small bowl.GOODELL CO. The cabinet has a curved back and would have been custom‐built to fit the dimensions of the lantern room interior. It is likely to date from when the lighthouse was built in 1884 and may have been among the items delivered by the government steamer dispatch early in March which included ‘the lantern and other fittings for the Cape Nelson Lighthouse’. The Public Works Department provided a range of lightstation furnishings including office desks and cabinets, and domestic settings for keepers’ quarters, with nineteenth century items often stamped with a crown motif and the PWD monogram however the curved cupboards installed in Victoria’s lighthouse lantern rooms do not appear to display this small feature. Further research may reveal more about their manufacture and it is tempting to think that they were perhaps even supplied by Chance Bros as part of the entire lantern room installation. The company usually provided the timber battens for the lantern room paneling, and a cabinet may have been included in the assemblage. Another possibility is that the specially designed cabinet was made on site by carpenters along with other fittings. It is not known whether it is attached to the wall or movable; if attached it is considered to be a fixture and included in the Victorian Heritage Register listing for the lightstation (VHR H1773). Its location, when identified in the CMP of April 1995, was on the ‘lower lantern level’, where there was also a ‘timber step ladder’ (Argus, 6 March 1884, p6. nineteenth or early twentieth century), ‘timber framed lighthouse specification’, ‘timber framed chart’ and telephone .Residue on the furnishing indicates that it was formerly painted green, the colour of some of the other fixtures in the room, such as the original cast iron ladder. It is now partially varnished and the corner to the top’s edging on the right side has been cut off. The lighthouse also has a large curved back, two‐door cupboard. Other similar cabinets with curved backs survive at Cape Schanck, varnished wood cabinet with brass door knob, no drawers; Point Hicks, painted green with silver doors, no drawers and Gabo Island, bench top, 2‐door, no drawers, green paint removed to reveal cedar timber). Cape Nelson’s curved cabinet is unique among these examples for having drawers. The cabinet is a unique, original feature of the lantern room and has first level contributory significance for its historic values and provenance.The bench top cupboard has two drawers, each above a door, and each door is framed and beveled around a central panel. This Can opener was used at the Bandiana Golf Club near Wodonga. Bonzer was a trademark of Mitchell & Cooper of England. Alfred Mitchell & Arthur Cooper started as silversmiths and engravers in 1879 in East London. The family owned business is still operated by Guy Cooper, great grandson of Arthur Cooper. Bandiana Army Golf Club 18 hole course opened in 1949. The Club reached its highest membership with 400 members in the late 1980s. F. M. Brown & Co were a foundry located (in 1892) on the corners of Creek and High Street in Bendigo. This embosser was manufactured by them for the City of Bendigo. Large, decorated, hand operated cast iron embosser with an top iron winder. Winder has a large knob on each end and when turned lowers and raises the seal. Embosser is decorated with a layer of plaster with is black with gold hand painted decorations including scrolls and flowers. Object is extremely heavy. Bridgewater is a situated 39km northwest of Bendigo and 170 km from Melbourne. It was established as a crossing point over the Loddon River for gold diggers en route to the Inglewood gold diggings. As gold began to dry up in the district the town of Bridgewater developed due to its proximity to the river which it relied on for industries such as brewing, farming and market gardens. As demand on the water supply grew, the Water Works were established to ensure supply and manage the quality of the water for drinking. Decorated hand operated cast iron embosser with 40mm seal head attached. Gold and orange painted decorations extend from top edge of handle to sides of base.
