There was a vibrant musical culture in Surrey Hills in the 1920s and 1930s. The donor William John Lock was a musician and lived at 9 Norfolk Road, Surrey Hills. Donation was made at time Libby Cavanagh was Secretary of the Surrey Hills Historical Society. Mrs N B Cerini was Jocelyn Hall's mother.This is one of a series of programs that documents the vibrant musical culture in Surrey Hills in the 1920s and 1930s.Faded blue-coloured bi-fold paper program with one corner cut off but with the program. Photos of abseiling down the Gas and Fuel building that were on the corner of Flinders St and Swanston St. It was an event for Legacy Week 1989. See also the training that occurred prior to the event - photos 00486 and 01409. Ron Barassi abseils for Legacy joined by staff member Carol Shaw and Legatee Peter Heeney. A label states it "was a Legacy versus Radio personalities abseiling challenge". Media team was Fox's Wally (Paul) Weissel and Ken Cavanagh and Triple M's Andy McClean. Aided by Williamstown Commando Company with training at Nidrie Quarry. Ron Barassi participated in many events for Legacy over the years, he had been a young Legatee after his father was killed in action at Tobruk in World War II, aged 27. These six photographs of Printer Technicians using a heavy-duty guillotine to trim bulk printed map stock were probably taken circa 1960s to 1980s in Lithographic Squadron at the Army Survey Regiment, Fortuna, Bendigo. Personnel are not identified on Photos .3P and .4P, however names are annotated on photos .1P, .2P, .4P and .5P. Cartographers normally provided trim marks to specified map dimensions as guidance to the printer. The trimming stage, like all the other printing processes required high levels of accuracy. These guillotines were extremely powerful to cut through bulk quantities of printed maps, as evident in photos .1P .3P, .4P and .6P.This is a set of photographs of Printer Technicians using a heavy-duty guillotine to trim bulk printed map stock c1960s to 1980s. The photographs were printed on photographic paper and are part of the Army Survey Regiment’s Collection.
