The phtograph was taken by Alfred Sinel who was the local photgrapher in Sunbury. The four arched bridge spans the river at Deep Creek, Bulla. The bridge replaced the forde crossing which is in the foreground of the photograph. The photograph shows the approach to the Bulla Bridge at Deep Creek in the Township of Bulla. Immediately on crossing the bridge there is a sharp bend in the road and a step ascent up Bulla Hill through the cutting until level ground is reached. The photograph is looking to the NW. The aerial photograph shows the market garden situated on the river bend and flat of the Deep Creek at Bulla. In the 19th Century a hotel occupied the site. After World War II the property was owned by the Hughes family, who grew flowers. Lochton was owned by William Morris Hunter who built and established the three storey flour mill on the horseshoe bend near Deep Creek in Bulla in the mid 1850s. The mill was steam driven. The timber and cable swing bridge straddled the Deep Creek at Bulla behind the Bulla school. The Kaolin Quarry at Bulla supplied Kaolin to the Northcote and Brunswick Pottery Works until it ceased operation at that site in the 1950s. The original swing bridge was built across the Deep Creek in 1854 to allow the Daniel family to visit the Dickens sisters.
