Included in the Dorey/Woolrich collection.Black and white photograph of young Harry Booth taken in a formal studio setting. Harry Booth was the son of Jack Booth, who owned Lots 37 and 38 in the Village Settlement and had access to creek water for successful berry crops. Harry was a local market agent and travelled to Victoria Market carrying produce from local settlers.Harry carried a variety of produce by horse and cart, apparently a twenty-four hour round trip, until the business was sold in the early 1920's. In addition to the photograph of the recipient, six other photographs of officers of the lodge are included. This copy was used by Jean Ralston (nee Cameron) of Orbost. She was married to Jack Ralston. John Gavin Ralston was born 26 July 1914 at Eden, N.S.W. and came to Orbost in the early 1920's, with his parents and siblings. They lived at the corner of Tennyson and Salisbury Streets. Jack was educated at Orbost Higher Elementary School before being apprenticed to William Ross at the Snowy River Mail as a lino-type operator. He married Jean Cameron. After WW11 when he served overseas in the islands) He resumed his trade at the Snowy River Mail until 1949 when began J.G.& J.M. Ralston, Seed & Produce Merchants. Jack Ralston was very involved in the Orbost sporting community, the Presbyterian Church and the Orbost Municipal Band. He also served in the Orbost sub-branch of the R.S.L. He died on April 15 1967. (ref. Margaret Smith O.D.H.S. Newsletter) This item reflects community affiliation with the Presbyterian Church as well as being a popular domestic reference item for many households. A cardboard covered spiral bound recipe book with a colourful cover - photographs of prepared food. Above the photos is the title, "P.W.M.U. Colin Hutchinson Key (1907-1939) was the son of Albert Key (1872-1921) and Isabella Roberts (1875-1940) and the grandson of Frederick Key (1842-1908) and Jane Key (nee Dalrymple 1845-1931) Suspect the photo is misidentified and is actually Albert Key, Colin Key's father. The fashion is more indicative of late 1890s - c.1896 [Cataloguing Note: Identification of individual does not fit the time period for the photographer by about 15 to 20 years - possibly misidentified. Eden Studios was big in Sydney from 1895 through 1927+ but only appears to have operated in Melbourne at 284 Collins Street from 1896-1900 and 149 Swanston Street 1904-1906. These individuals were Melbourne based so unlikely to be the Sydney studios.
