TODAY IT IS STILL USED TO EDUCATE THE CHILDREN OF CLUNES STATE SCHOOL NO. 136 WAS BUILT IN 1881 ON THE SITE OF AN EARLIER TEMPORARY SCHOOL THAT WAS BUILT IN 1857. THE DESIGN WAS FIRST USED AT HORSHAM. AND INCLUDES AN EARLY EXAMPLE OF A LARGE SCHOOL VERANDAH. IN 1892 THIS SCHOOL AMALGAMATED WITH STATE SCHOOL NO. 1552 AND WAS USED AS THE INFANT SCHOOL. SEVERAL PUBLIC LECTURES WERE ARRANGED AT CLUNES TO HELP CREATE INTEREST IN THE NEW CLUNES BRANCH OF SMB.
